Shout out to RKY

This is a shout out to all the Richmondites. Many people were born into this small town. It has shaped us to be who we are today and we have shaped Richmond to be what it is today. Many people from my generation give or take a few ages, for example, have shaped Madison County soccer to be what it is today. We were the first to really devote a lot of time to soccer and take pride in it when we traveled. Great example of this are those Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals hanging somewhere in our houses from the Bluegrass State Games. Its is also because of our generation that we have the Richmond Centre, we got tired of those same store in the Richmond Mall and the city listened. Its because of our generation that Madison Central gove the real "futbol" the passion it needed at Central. Its is also because of every single person in our generation that we are who we are. Even though we've had our ups and downs, we are still tighter than a rubber band.

This is jus a small and quick shout out to you Richmondite for shaping our once small town into what it is today and for shaping those around you to be who they are now. Richmond, Kentucky is the place I will always proudly call my birthplace, home, and where I come from and take pride in the statement.

"Who's Your Daddy?" Part 1

Its been a while since I have wrote on the blog so here comes another one. And on this one I am going to come a little deep into my thoughts because my wheels have been a'turnin'. And trust me the title will have relevance by the end of these blogs. Just a little background: this is what I have been learning in philosophy class.

One of the biggest question in todays society is between evolution and if it is the true way we came into existence. The evolution theory came about by the reasoning of Edwin Darwin. Darwin stated that organisms have progressively evolved into what we are today, evolutionism. But the theory I want to expand upon is by F.R. Tennant. His theory is called the Theistic Evolution theory. This is "the belief that God uses natural evolutionary processes to bring about his desired effect." This theory by Tennant can only old true if the theory of evolution is correct.

At this point is where I would like to branch off. All the speculation and criticism of evolution vs Christianity and whatnot is a little out of hand. What if the people in the Christian faith would accept evolution into their beliefs? I think some debates would stop answering where we came from and how we got here. We first have to remember that Darwin wasn't trying to prove Christianity wrong, it only suggested a different way of which God created us. This view is the theistic theory. I think this theory could very possibly be a plausible theory. No, we wouldn't have started out as a monkey man or whatever. we would have to go way back to the tiny organisms and atoms at the beginning of the Earth.

More thoughts continued next time....Hope your wheels are turning too. Research more if need be.

"This goes out to anybody listenin'" ('er well reading...)

The school year has started now, and has started of well. The best thing about this school year in particular is having Deanna on campus now. I love getting to see her everyday. This next stage of our relationship has started off well also. That is her being here on campus with me as a freshmen and transitioning from that "long-distance" relationship to a normal see-you-everyday relationship. She has done well making the necessary changes that comes into play for every college freshman, Good Job! Another cool thing is that there are Chilean students from the school I went to in my visit to Chile last summer. A couple of them I even met when I was there and it is just cool to see them again.  Classes are cool.

How about them Redlegs? As of this moment they have an 8 game lead for that pennant! Pretty cool if I do say so myself. mainly because the last time they won the the World Series itself was 20 years ago. How do I know that? Because I was barely even born by then and have waited for the season when I finally get to actually see them win with my own eyes. So needless to say I am real hopeful this season. Only about 30 games left too!

It is football season too. A good time of the year. Football begins an array of things. Cool air, crisp nights, Halloween, feelin' god weather (60's to 70's)....Mainly just a good time of the year. Steelers are looking for #7, the Wildcats are looking for the Governors Cup. Hopefully I am able to make an appearance at a game this season. Preferably the WKU game, cause I just hate Western with a passion. Just kidding Kent! Hopefully I get to see my broseph if I get to go.

Thanks for Reading people!
P.S.- Join the bid to get the World Cup here in the United States in either 2018 or 2022!

An intriguing comment.

On my last post I received a comment dealing with Creationism. I'm not going to care about my English skills or whatnot because this isn't school or work. Anyway, my motive for talking about creationism was to produce spark to those who read the blog and research themselves. It is an inretesting topic and could help you figure out what you believe in your faith, do not believe in your faith, or change what you believe in your faith. And, please, remember these are my thoughts and are not 100% accurate and could come from feeling more than fact. Finally I am a Bible believer.

Creationism, yes, is a part of Christianity, however, they way they examine the Bible is different. One thing they see different is how time works. In creationism belief they say that the days, hours, months, and so on, began on the first day God created the heavens and the Earth (Gen. 1:1). This would make the earth to be only around 4300 years old. Then It seems like they pick and choose their verses they want to back themselves up with. Because they skip over a few verses in psalms that contradict, or rebuddle, that fact. Psalms 90:4, "For a thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night." If you take this verse, or the whole passage for that matter, into consideration then the earth would have to be more than 4300 years old. For in Genesis it is not until the 4th day of creation that God created the day and night along with the seasons of the lands (Gen. 1:14-19). This is where my belief that the Bible and science are able to walk in line together. Just like artifacts and history books. Second, they use good back up, but in the museum they only had one back up for each fact. Somethings need more than one source too be a strong fact. It seems to me that the museum beat around the bush a little bit.

Finally, I never said, implied, even suggested that we cannot trust the Bible or that Jesus was figurative. I think the comment was written on a frustrated hand and went a little off topic there at the end. The only thing that really irks me is the time differences. Those differences are the main reason I am flustered.   A book of recommendation for you commenter would be "What Rough Beast?" by David Penchansky. I thank you for your comment so that I could clear up some things for my readers, or those who actually know my background. Also, it gave me the chance to find the back up I needed to make my argument. Its users like you that I enjoy hearing from.

If I need more I will gladly dig deeper for you.

Late Summer

Summer has flown by kinda fast and kinda slow. Work is done, the World Cup has ended, the music world has progressed, been challenged in my faith, and all sorts of things. Take a trip with me.

I have learned to appreciate school a lot more this summer. Working in the factory of Shewrin-Williams has done this to me. It's a 24/7 heat producer and barely has any cool air being fed into it. I got tired of the messes being made, paint smells, fumes, and sometimes the unorganization of the place. I am glad to get out of there. This does not mean I hate the place, it has been good to my Dad and family over the last 21 years.

The worlds eyes were on South Africa most mornings of June and the beginning of July. The World Cup produced exciting games and disappointments. The United States proved that they are making progress to get far into the tournament. They also revolutionized how fans and US citizens look at international soccer. Americans showed passion that had never been seen from fans before. Maybe not even when the US hosted it back in 1994. Reactions coming from Covington, Kentucky, FRANCE, New York City, and many other places, created by Donovan's winning goal showed that Americans are now appreciating them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbn3rOPmR9w . However dissapointment brewed against Ghana and extra time. But I am already excited for 2014 Brazil and the players that the United States will have. Hopefully the new champions Spain will be knocked off early next time.

If you live in Richmond and haven't heard the new music being produced, you are missing out! West Metcalf, thats who is producing this music. Forget Eminem's new CD, you gotta check out this kid. Along with Nathan Blum and Adam Smith, they are producing some hot records. This guy goes hard. Never stops. All freshly produced from his head. Free verse? this guy thinks of everything. A master of it. Great stuff! Go check them out!- http://westandadam.bandcamp.com/

I was challenged in my faith recently. The girlfriend and I took a trip to the Creation Museum in northern Kentucky. After touring the museum I feel that I am not a Creationist for a few reasons. First, there are many gaps. Second, they read the Bible I think a little to literal. Third, not enough back-up for me. I don't want to go too deeply into this because i feel that one should experience this museum for themselves and I don't want what I say to persuade them or anything like that. If you do have any questions you can email me.
This doesn't go to say I don't believe that God created everything because i do believe it. Creationism is becoming one of the fastest growing branches of Christianity in the recent years. It is different than Christianity and Catholicism, but has some of the the same ideas as them. Research it to learn a little bit more, it is hard to explain.

Last thing, you should vote on what you have liked this summer on the left of this blog! Thanks!

Copa del Mundial! Bienvenidos a África del Sur

Summer has flown by. I have been working for most of it, and the worse thing is, I have to miss most of the games of the World Cup due to work. THANKFULLY I HAVE DVR!!!!! I'm picking Germany this year for Champs. USA will make it to the Semi-finals. Chile, Quarter-finals. Second place- Argentina.Third and fourth places- Argentina and the Australians. All are arguable but thats what I think. Highlight of the Cup- the Vuvuzelas. Definition- beautiful noise. You know, that little buzzing in your ear lately watching a soccer game.

2010 Flood!

We all just survived the flood of the decade! Many people referenced taking boats to get places and swimming to get to their classes, and, they probably had too. There were also references to knowing how Noah felt and taking his boat for their travels. Well ironically enough the Noah's Ark has been found, so they claim. I found an a couple of articles on the internet last Friday/Saturday about this claim. Its actually believable too, which makes it really cool. The wood that is on this ship they found in Mount Ararat in Turkey dates to be, or carbon dated, to be 4,800 years old. This puts the ship around the time Noah built the ark when reading the Bible literally. Being in Turkey, it is also the area he would have been in also.

As a Christian this is a great find. I cannot tell you the excitement that it brings to me and the Christian faith. It helps us reinforce the timeline of the Bible and maybe straighten some things that may be a little fuzzy because the scrolls are so old.

Chile and more.....

I would like to send my thoughts and prayers out out to the Nation of Chile. They are a grand and THE most hospitable people in the world, as far as I know. I don't know if I will be able to make it back there anytime soon or not which is unfortunate. But I am glad to know that the will rebuild their nation back stronger than it has ever been.

I would also like to ask you for prayers for myself also. I have almost declared my major; I just need a few signatures and a few more things on the sheet and I am done. I am now, unofficially a Commerce, Language, and Culture major, or CLC, which is an International Studies major. I will have had many classes in the areas of business, Spanish, and Spanish Culture. That being said I will have to go study abroad. Maybe Spain, Argentina, or or maybe even Chile. But I would like to experience something new so maybe not Chile. But who knows. Thats not my main worry however, I do have to pay for all of this and that will take some time to save up the money for it. The average cost of a trip is $5000 for the times I need to go. Thats quite a bit of money out of pocket. There are a few international studies scholarships and grants but that won't cover it all. Therefore, its going to be a long journey from now until next summer, which is when I have to go abroad. Pray for me that I will be able to pay for going abroad and expanding my horizons.

Haiti and their new video.

I know i has been a while since I've wrote on here, school has been busier than I thought it would be.

I just recently bought "We are the World 25 for Haiti" video and I am very impressed by it. I am bothered how ever over the fact it has gotten so many negative reviews by people and why we are even supporting Haiti.

First for the song: There is no comparison for the old song for Africa and the new one for Haiti. There is no reason to compare artists in the first place. 25 years ago when the song was first made the artists used for that one were popular at the time, and the style of music was popular then also. They went with the same approach with this song too asking many popular singers for the song, and props to them for adding Michael Jackson in it also, that was a good move. 25 years ago rap wasn't as popular as it is today and the musical world has broadened also. Therefore, there is ample reason for them to use artists like Jeff Bridges, lil' Wayne, T-Pain, Jennifer Neddles, Randy Jackson, Pink, Will.i.am, and many others because they are popular in today's music world. The production was great for the time they did it in and how they were able to get 80+ artists to appear in the video/song in it.

Now for why it is important to support Haiti: Many arguments I have heard are "Why are we even supporting Haiti? they wouldn't help us if we had a natural disaster like that. Well, for one, we wouldn't ever have a natural disaster that would take out our WHOLE country, like the earthquake did to Haiti. We would never have that size of a disaster.

If we don't help them, who will. We are known for being there for countries when they are in distress, for example, Indonesia and Africa, for the main obvious reason, we are the richest nation in the world and have enough willing people to aid them and with their own government their people are able to start recovering quickly and get the medicine and antibiotics they need. It is important to maintain our label as helping out those in distress. Becasue think of it if we don't help, we are know for leaving the world people suffering and dying in a country almost a stones throw away. What would it do to the Cuban people also? We have adjusted for them to become citizens of our country and imagine if we hadn't. Cubans think we don't care about their people and the world and, for one, Cuba has a government we don't particularly like, therefore we do things for their people to help save them form their distress that Fidel puts on them.

Continue to have Haiti in your thoughts and prayers along as supporting them to rebuild their country. These are just the thoughts I hav
e had about this situation.
